Multilingual Content Platform

Digital Publishing

Confidential 6–8 weeks Payload CMS TypeScript Next.js React Native PostgreSQL

Challenge

A digital publishing project needed to manage and serve editorial content in three languages — English, Romanian, and Russian — across a web application and a mobile app, from a single admin without duplicate data entry. The editorial team included non-technical writers who needed to publish in their respective languages independently.

Solution

We configured Payload CMS with locale-aware content models covering articles, authors, tags, and rich media. Each article has per-locale draft and publish states — an editor can publish the Romanian version while the Russian translation is still in draft. A Next.js web front-end and a React Native app both consume the Payload REST API.

Results

Three editorial teams — one per language — operate independently from a single CMS instance. The average time to publish a translated article across all three locales dropped from four hours (manual processes) to under 35 minutes. The deployment includes automated PostgreSQL backups and a staging environment for content previews before publication.
